Remove Notification Spam in Chrome

Shady converter sites abuse Chrome's notification permission to push spam to your desktop. Removing the permission takes under a minute. Here is exactly how.

Step 1: Open Chrome settings

Click the three-dot menu in the top right of Chrome, then Settings.

Step 2: Open Site settings

Go to Privacy and security, then Site settings.

Step 3: Open Notifications

Scroll to the Permissions section and click Notifications.

Step 4: Remove the offending site

Under "Allowed to send notifications", find the spammy site. Click the three dots next to it and choose Block or Remove. The spam stops immediately.

On Android Chrome

Tap the three-dot menu, Settings, Site settings, Notifications. Find the site and turn its permission off.

Prevent it permanently

• On the same Notifications page, turn off "Sites can ask to send notifications". Chrome will block the prompt entirely.
• Never click Allow on a converter site's prompt, no matter what it claims the button does.
• Review the allowed list every few months and remove anything you do not recognize.
